about

Captured on Rabbit Island between July 11th and September 3rd, 2012 the following field recordings document the birdsong, rustling of leaves, and palpable weather of the island environment, reinforced in its remoteness by the always audible Lake Superior—the rumble, waves and wind of which reach even the densely forested areas of the island’s interior.

These recordings (both stereo and quadraphonic versions) were placed on a recycled paperboard USB stick that was included in a limited edition artifact kit and exhibition publication for Andrew Ranville's solo exhibition No Island is a Man, presented at the DeVos Art Museum.
